Plentae is a food, portion, and symptom tracker built for adults on GLP-1 medications. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices available. Written in plain language on purpose — the same "no shame, no jargon" spirit the app itself is built on.
Plentae is developed by Michael Shane Wallace. Questions about this policy or your data can go to privacy@plentae.com any time.
Plentae is intended for adults 17 and older. Information is not knowingly collected from anyone younger, and the app is not directed at children. If a child has provided information through the feedback feature (see below), contact privacy@plentae.com to have it deleted.
Everything you enter in the normal course of using the app is stored locally, in a database that lives only on your phone. It never leaves your device or touches any third-party service unless you choose to include it in feedback (see the next section). This includes:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Meal / plate logs | Plate size, protein grams, food name, timestamp |
| Gut-comfort notes | Symptom tags (e.g. nausea, heartburn), free-text notes |
| Medication tracking (optional) | Shot/pill timing, dose changes, injection-site rotation — all self-reported, entered only if you turn this on |
| Weight (optional, off by default) | Weight entries, only if you explicitly opt in under Settings |
| Profile | Age, weight, activity level, muscle-focus preference — used only to calculate your personal protein target, entirely on-device |
| App preferences | Show-numbers toggle, reminder settings, onboarding status |
Logged meals, symptoms, and medication timing are treated as sensitive health-adjacent information, which is exactly why they're designed to never leave your device in the first place.
Three features make network requests. Each is listed below with exactly what's sent.
| Feature | What's sent | Sent to |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous feedback optional | The message you type, your app version, and your device platform (iOS/Android). No name, email, or account identifier — feedback can't be connected to you personally. | Web3Forms |
| Food search optional | The food name you type, to look up its protein content. No personal identifiers. | USDA FoodData Central (a US government database) |
| Barcode scan optional | The scanned barcode number, to look up a product's protein content. | Open Food Facts |
These requests go over secure (HTTPS) connections. Each of these services is a separate company with its own privacy practices, linked above and worth a look for anyone curious. What they log on their own end isn't something Plentae controls (for example, most web services log an IP address for every request, which is normal internet infrastructure behavior, not something Plentae asks for or uses).
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera | Only used if you choose to scan a barcode. You can deny it and still use the app fully. |
| Notifications | Only used for an optional, opt-in reminder around your medication day — off by default, and entirely local (no notification service or push token involved). |
You can revoke either permission at any time in your device's system settings.
Data on your device stays there until you delete it (via Settings → Clear my data) or uninstall the app — either wipes it completely and immediately, since there's no server copy to also delete. Anonymous feedback you send is retained (by Plentae and by Web3Forms) to help improve the app; contact privacy@plentae.com to request removal of a specific feedback submission (though since it's anonymous, it can only be located using the message content and an approximate date/time).
Your logged data is protected by your device's own operating-system security (the same protection as your phone's other apps and files). Network requests to the services listed above use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS). Because there are no user accounts or passwords, there's no login system to be compromised.
Personal information is not sold or shared as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — there's close to nothing collected to begin with. Details about, or deletion of, any information held (limited to feedback that's been sent in) can be requested by emailing privacy@plentae.com.
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. In practice, because nearly all your data lives only on your own device and never reaches Plentae, there is usually nothing to access or delete on that end — the in-app tools above (Settings → Clear my data) give you direct control instead. For the limited data that does reach Plentae — anonymous feedback — email privacy@plentae.com to request action.
Plentae is a personal tracking and self-awareness tool, not a medical device, and it does not provide medical, dietary, or dosing advice. For medical decisions, talk to your clinician. (This is a product disclaimer, not a data-privacy term, restated here for clarity since some of what you track is health-adjacent.)
An opt-in premium feature that would use AI to find deeper patterns across your logs than the on-device engine can today is under consideration, but hasn't been built yet. If it is, using it will mean sending the relevant data to an AI service for that specific analysis — it will be entirely optional, off by default, and clearly explained before it can be turned on, and this policy will be updated with the specifics (which data, which service, how it's handled) before that feature ships, not after.
Material changes to how Plentae handles data will come with an updated effective date above and a note in the app's release notes. Your data will never be made less private without telling you first.
